About Us
Wendover Singers was founded in 2020 by two friends Carol & Sue who were lovers of singing and had been involved in community projects for most of their lives.

They partnered with highly experienced Musical Director Jill Neenan, a passionate supporter of community choirs, and with funding from local organisations, Lionel Abel-Smith Trust and Wendover Parish Council, plus generous residents, Wendover Singers was born.

The Adults Choir started with 40+ members and despite a hiatus during the pandemic rapidly increased to full membership of 100 singers last year.

The Children’s Choir was piloted in autumn 2022 and now boasts more than 20 regular members.
We exist to boost our members’ wellbeing, joy, and sense of belonging, through a shared love of music and song.
We passionately believe in the power of singing in a group and the benefits this can bring, so Wendover Singers is open to everyone over the age of 7 years, regardless of circumstance or ability.

We believe there should be no cost barrier to singing, so seek grants and raise funds to keep our fees as low as possible.

We have members from all ranges of singing ability from the very experienced to the complete beginner. There are no auditions and members are not required to read music to join.

We sing songs from a variety of genres such as musical theatre, classical, choral, popular songs, rock primarily in 4 & 6-part harmony and some unison pieces.

Inclusivity Statement – May 2024
We passionately believe that singing is for absolutely everyone regardless of personal circumstance, gender, age, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, marital status, physical ability or cultural background.

We strive to create an inclusive community where everyone is welcomed, respected and feels accepted irrespective of whether they can sing, read music, have experience singing in choirs, are semi-professionals or are absolute beginners and want to have a go.

The music we sing is carefully curated by our Musical Director, in collaboration with the committee and feedback from members. It covers a broad range of musical styles, some with religious references and some without. Our inclusive approach ensures that no particular religion, belief or musical style is prioritised, whilst ensuring that the music suits the members of the choir in their ability & enjoyment.

Where possible the committee will aim to accommodate any visible and/or invisible disability. They will at all times respect the dignity of all its members by striving to uphold the values of the organisation – kindness, respect, understanding and tolerance.
